Former wrestling standout Joe Favia was named the head coach of the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling program in June of 2014. Over the course of his seven seasons at the helm Coach Favia has turned Stevens Wrestling into one of the nation’s top D3 programs. In his short tenure Coach Favia has led the Ducks to 6 consecutive Conference Championships, an NCAA East Regional title in 2016, and Southeast Regional Title in 2020, 6 Coach of the Year awards, and achieved the school’s first undefeated season in history (22-0). Nationally the Ducks have finished in the top 15 in the country four of the last five contested seasons finishing 8th, 10th, 4th, 12th, respectively. That including the team’s first ever NCAA Team trophy in 2018 when the team finished 4th. In his time at Stevens Coach Favia has coached 37 NCAA National qualifiers, 46 NWCA Academic All-Americans, and 20 NCAA All-Americans. While wrestling for the Ducks, Favia was a four-year letter winner and a three-year captain for Stevens from 2009-13. He holds a Centennial Conference title, NCAA East Regional title, a two-time NCAA All-American (5th, 5th), and Academic All-American. Coach Favia has also been assisting with the USA Women’s Senior, Junior, and Cadet World Teams as a volunteer assistant during the Ducks off season. He is also on staff as a Women’s Coach at the NYC RTC. More information.
Prior to this start with the program in August of 2015, Anthony was a Graduate Assistant at his Alma Mater of Waynesburg University. During his collegiate career he was a two-time NCAA qualifier, including a trip to the national finals in 2014 where he finished as runner-up during his All-American campaign. No stranger to hard work in the classroom, Anthony was named Academic All-American three-times, as well as Waynesburg’s male scholar athlete of the year in 2013-14. As a coach Anthony has helped lead the Ducks to the top of the NCAA rankings, playing a large role in the ducks recent success on the mat and in their recruiting endeavors. In addition Anthony has spent a number of years helping run one of the country’s most successful camp circuits, hosted by the United States Naval Academy. More information.
For the past three years Scott has been a integral member of the Stevens Coaching Staff. In 2018, Scott completed a tremendous four-year career at Rutgers University, where the South Plainfield, New Jersey native finished tied for 23rd in program history with 88 wins and qualified for three NCAA Championships. DelVecchio, who was a two-time Big Ten championship place winner at 133 pounds, became just the fourth Scarlet Knight since 1979 to enter the national championship unseeded and earn All-American status, with a come-from-behind win over Drexel’s seventh-seeded Anthony DeSanto. Scott adds a great dynamic to the D1 mentality that the Ducks already embody. After just one year with the team, Scott has already made a last impression on the athletes and their growth as top tier competitors.
